FlickPick Privacy Policy

FlickPick ("we", "our", or "the app") is a mobile application that helps users discover movies, TV shows, and documentaries. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account and use FlickPick, we collect the following information:

• Account information: Email address and password (managed by Firebase Authentication).
• Profile information: Display name, age, gender, and zip code, which you provide during profile setup.
• Usage data: Your content preferences, including movies, TV shows, and documentaries you like, dismiss, skip, or mark as already seen, along with any ratings you provide.
• Group data: Group memberships, group names, and shared content matches with other group members.
• Feedback: Any feedback you voluntarily submit through the app.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the FlickPick service, including personalized content recommendations.
• Enable group features, such as finding content that multiple group members have liked.
• Display content details, ratings, and streaming availability from third-party sources (TMDB, OMDB, Watchmode).
• Improve the app based on user feedback.

3. Third-Party Services

FlickPick uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google): Authentication, data storage (Cloud Firestore). See Firebase Privacy Policy.
• TMDB (The Movie Database): Movie and TV show data. See TMDB Privacy Policy.
• OMDB API: IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes ratings.
• Watchmode: Streaming availability data.

These services may collect technical data such as IP addresses and device identifiers as described in their respective privacy policies.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your liked content is shared only with members of groups you voluntarily join, for the purpose of finding group matches.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely in Google Cloud Firestore with security rules that restrict access. Only you can read and write your own profile and preferences. Group data is accessible only to group members.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app. When you delete your account, all your personal data, preferences, and group memberships are permanently removed.

7. Children's Privacy

FlickPick is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data through the Profile screen.
• Update your profile information at any time.
• Delete your account and all associated data.
• Leave any group at any time, removing your data from that group's matches.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date above.
